My kids were on prom. Having a great time.
I was in the kitchen.
When I heard a scream.
I turned around and saw puddle on the floor.
Demond sat on his knees in it.
He was all black and black smoke poured out of him.
He laid his hand on the heart and collapsed on the floor.
He just lay there.
"Honey..?" I said and stared at him. I couldn't move or anything, I just stood there, frozen on my spot next to the fridge.
It was first when the Reaper came, I could do anything.
My brain suddenly understood what had happened.
I covered my face with my hands and started crying.
I just looked up when the whole kitchen started sparkle.
It was just Demond's body who was brought away.
Something that sounded like a strangled scream, left my throat and I felt the tears rushing down my cheeks.
I sank down on the floor.
And stared at the little urn.

I decided not to tell the kids yet.
Instead, I put the urn on the kitchen counter, and grabbed some ice cream from the freezer.
Then I just went to bed. Even though it was just 7 PM.

Something was different when I got home. But I couldn't put my finger on what it was.
The dishwasher was still broken. I thought dad should fix it.
And I saw a weird... stone... box on the kitchen counter.
I stared at it for a little while. It was something about that box.
But at last, I shook my head, and walked out to my room.

Of course mom told us kids, what had happened.
And I had never seen a more sad soul, than mom. Sheila and I cried too, of course, but not as much as mom.
I was honestly happy I moved out to my sisters room, because when we walked into the house in the mornings, we could hear mom cry in her bed.
Every.
Single.
Morning.
We made a beautiful place for dad's gravestone, next to a tree.
And mom cutted her hair. Actually, she changed look altogether.
Nowadays she just walked around in hoodies and sweatpants, with bags under the eyes and her short hair in a mess.
Except today, when we had the funeral.
