FEGG - G13 - Remy - Chapter 3

One day, we heard a scream coming from my room.

Nora was the first one to get there.

"MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!" she screamed through the house.

Since I was on my way to my room, I was the second to get there.

I found my sister crying.

"What happened?" I asked, but then I looked at the floor and saw my dad!

 He just lay there.

"I-I think he got a shock.." Nora sobbed.

"I called the ambulance!" Mom said as she rushed into the room. She saw dad and I think I never had seen anyone that terrified before.

We just stood there and cried, waiting for the ambulance. But we knew it was too late.

I opened my eyes and looked around me. Wait... this wasn't heaven..? I looked at my hands. They were transparent. And I was cold. It was cold in here. I rose from the floor. I was in Nora's room. I could hear the rest of the family crying in the next room. That made my heart hurt a bit.

Suddenly a dark shadow surrounded me and someone in dark clothes came out of the dark. He held a scythe in his hand. The Grim Reaper. I recognized him immediately, even though I had never seen him before.

He looked at me and then suddenly, a bright light surrounded me instead and a warm feeling spread inside my cold body. I looked at my hands and they light up for a moment, before they got color and the opacity disappeared.

"Nemo." The Grim Reaper said. His voice was high and hollow. "Your unluckyness has amused me and those around you. I don't want to take that away from them. I'll get you some other time."

And the next second he was gone.

I screamed for my Spencer, who I could still hear sobbing in the other room.
She came running and I told her what the Grim Reaper said. She wrapped her arms around me and cried and I stood there, comforting her.

I was so happy I was alive.

My sister FINALLY graduated and moved.

It had just been a month since that miracle and today was the day my parents would get married. Today was also the day my sister was going to move.

We got a lot of guests.

 And my parents started immediately.

We sat down on the chairs around them.

Some people stood.

Then they started with their talking.

Dad took our last name. And I was happy over that. I didn't want a lot of other names in my "Bookworm's Family History" book.

 They kissed.

And everyone cheered. Some even cried a tear or two.

I didn't cry, I cheered and was happy for them.

I was even happy that I found a really good looking boy there at the wedding.

He was older than me, but I started talking with him anyway.

 He introduced himself as Michael.

And we stood there chatting for awhile.

Actually, we hang out the whole evening.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It wasn't long after the wedding, my brother grew up and moved he too.

Now I was the only kid in the house.

And I wrote my book. "Bookworm's Family History".

FEGG - G13 - Remy - Chapter 2

I never thought about it as a kid, but the Library...

Of course that was the place I could find out more about my family!

Mom had actually told me she'd seen a book once written my an ancestor.

So now I stood here and searched for it. And when I finally found the name "Bookworm" I found out there weren't just only one. There were actually a lot of them.

The first one I picked was written by Annie Bookworm, and it was really, really old. I didn't even know they had computers back then!

But that book wasn't really the greatest book to search facts in, since it was a children's book.

I went to the bookshelf and half a minute later, I found something that looked like a biography.

I sat down and read. It was apperently about my grand-grand-grand-grand-grand, etcetera. As I said, a really long time ago. She had a husband and two daughters and this was a book about her life as a mother.

I read about the daughters, Clementine and Vilhelmina, and it was clearly Annie liked Clementine the most. I was wondering if Vilhelmina or Clementine was my ancestor.

Vilhelmina moved to Aurora Skies and Clementine stayed with Annie. Then I didn't get to know that much more about them.

So I switched to the computer.

I must say, I found a LOT! Blogs from my ancestors and photos.

I sat there, reading and watching for hours. Until it was dark outside and I had to get home.
But of course I wrote down all blogs I'd found, so I could check them up later again.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My life as a teenager was so my easier than people said it would've been. I didn't care at all about friends and parties and stuff like that. I enjoyed being home or at the library.

I also enjoyed playing video games with my brother. We still were the best of friends, and he used to help me searching through blogs and stuff.

It was really sweet of him, even though I preferred to do it by myself.

It was also fun to pillowfight. But who doesn't think that?

Hitting someone with a pillow. Best way to hit someone without getting punished by hurting someone.

But I almost got punished once. I hit my sister for fun, but she got mad and ran after mom to complain.

Some people don't know how to have fun.

With dad out in the garden, mom in front of the computer and me at the library, we didn't get that much time together as a family.

The only time we had together was sunday nights. We always had supper together and there was NO excuse to not eat supper with the rest of the family.

My sister had tried to avoid it by sneaking out a few times, but the punishment wasn't that nice. If you were gone at the Sunday Supper, you'd have to do the dishes for two weeks ahead, and that's not fun.

Of course we ate together some of the other days too, but there were always someone missing.

But I, compared to my sister, enjoyed Sunday Supper. We all sat together and just talked. No hurry at all.
And I used to tell my family about all the fun stuff I'd found at the internet.

Everyone listened except my sister, who just rolled her eyes and did everything to ignore me.

Mom enjoyed it. She always asked things and together, we tried to solve our family tree.

My brother was always quiet, but I knew he also enjoyed it. He was almost as excited as I was about all those family mysteries.

Since I was a slow eater, I always was the last at the table.
The whole family just disappeared after eating their food. But I had nothing against being left over. Then I could sit by myself and think about everything we'd been talking about that evening.

FEGG - G13 - Remy - Chapter 1

A smell of smoke spread through our house.

I was the first to get to the fireplace.

"MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!" I screamed and stared at the blazes.

Mom came running after like two seconds.

"I've called the fire department!" she said. "Now, go out to the frontyard!"

Dad also came into the living room, but unfortunately he stood to close to the fire, so suddenly the blazes reached him!

He screamed in pain and now it was impossible to me to go out. "DAAD!" I screamed and I could hear mom scream too.

Then finally, the fire fighters came.

"OUT!" they shouted and mom took me and my siblings to the door.

They put off the fire on my dad first, and then they continued with the rest.

When everything was extinguished, we ran back in, to dad. Mom hugged him hard.

"I thought you were going to die!" she sobbed.

"M-me to.." dad said. He looked frightened.

The fire fighters were just going out the door, when the next fire started.

But this time, dad grabbed the closest fire fighter's extinguisher, and put off the small fire by himself.

Right after that, he sat down on one knee and picked up a box.

Then he proposed to my mother. Just like that.

"Now before it's too late." he started off. "Will you marry me, Spencer?"

This time mom screamed by happiness and jumped into my father's arms.

Me and my siblings and the fire fighters applauded and laughed. We all were just as happy and relieved.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I sat in the kitchen, writing down what mom had told me the night before.

She had told me a lot of stories and memories from our family history, and now I just tried to remember them all.

Suddenly my sister sat down next to me.

"What are you doing? Homework?" she asked.

"No... not really..." I mumbled. "I'm writing down stories..."

"Don't tell me you're still doing that family history stuff..." she said. "Please God, when are you going to grow up?"

"I like doing this..." I said. "It's fun."

"Yeah, but you make me look like a weirdo too." Nora said.

I didn't answer her. I could never make her like what I was doing.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dexter and I joined Nora in High School.

She was not very happy about it, but she couldn't actually stop us from getting older.

And we also redid Dexter's and my room.

We had that high fence in between our beds, just for some privacy. Not that there were much of a privacy anyway, since you could see through the gapes in the fence.

But I liked it anyway.
