FEGG - G8 - Cosmo - Chapter 2

It was prom today. I was very excited. And I don't know how long I brushed my teeth this morning.

It was prom night!
In all my books, it was on prom, all the magic things happened! It was on prom where your crush or that super hot guy in the football team, asked you to a dance. And you said yes, and then you and him became the prom king and queen.

I was so excited. I hoped with all my heart that this night would be amazing.

And I posed in my dress, in front of the mirror. It maybe wasn't the best prom dress ever, but I loved it.

 "You look beautiful sweetie."
I turned around and saw our butler, Greta, coming up to me.

"Oh, thank you." I said and gave her a hug. She should quit her work as our butler, so this was the last time I saw her. "I'll miss you."

"I'll miss you too, sweetie." she said and patted my hair.

She had been the only one that had cared about me the last five years.

Anyway, I had a great prom night. I hang around with my best friends, and I even danced with one of the guys in my chemistry class. But I never got a dance with one of the guys in the football team, and I didn't become the prom queen.
I was disappointed, but I was satisfied anyway.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One thing I was happy about, was our new butler. Demond.
I got a crush on him since the first day I saw him sitting and reading in our armchair. One of the reasons was, that he read one of my books.

"Do you like that book?" I asked, and saw it was Special Snowflake.

He looked at me. "Yeah. I do. Are you Miss Bookworm?"

I nodded and grinned. "And you're our new butler!"

He smiled at me.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was glad that Demond lived in our house. I figured that he wasn't that much older than me. I was 16 and he was 20 and had just started working.

I was surprised over that such a young boy could have a work as a butler. Especially when it lived a teenager in the house, four years younger than him.

Maybe this was my destiny.

I could see everything in my mind of how it was supposed to be. It was like a beautiful love story. But he wasn't allowed to date his customers, or what I should call me and my family.

It was forbidden love. Like Jack and Rose from Titanic, or Romeo and Juliet. Or maybe even Edward and Bella from Twilight.
I was so excited to see what would happen between me and Demond.

I spend all days reading. I was shy around Demond, and whenever he walked into my room, for checking if there was anything he had to do, my heart always raced in my chest, and I couldn't sit still on my spot in the couch, bed or my sacco bags.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was mom and Tom's wedding. They were getting married. A lot of people were at our house, and I wore my prom dress. It was my favourite one, and I wanted Demond to see how beautiful I was in it.

I didn't knew any other people.

I sat down on a chair and just looked around. I had no one to talk to.

Then it was time for the ceremony. Mom and Tom said a lot of stuff to eachothers, and then it was time to exchange rings.

Demond sat down next to me and he seemed really happy.
I played along and pretended to be happy for mom's sake too. In reality, I wasn't at all. I didn't care about the wedding, I just didn't want Demond to realise that.

Some guys even started to cry. I didn't know why, but it felt kinda weird that they did.

Beautiful music came from the guys, from mom's work, playing harp and piano.

 And mom and Tom kissed.

Everyone cheered and throwed rice, but I just felt disgusted.

I spent the rest of the night on the dance floor.

And later that night, the phone rang. Almost all guests were on their way home, and mom and Tom were somewhere, so I answered.

"Hello?" I said, wondering who would call 4AM.

"Hi there, is Tom Wordy at home?" a woman's voice asked.

I never corrected her, instead I said: "He's outside, is it something important, or can I tell him what it is?"

The woman told me that his best friend, Big Hartley, died this night.

My eyes wided. "I'll tell him. Thank you and goodnight." I said.

But I wouldn't tell him tonight. I knew if I ruined this night, either he or mom would never, ever forgive me.
