FEGG - G10 - Sebastian - Chapter 2

Kristin

"You have a minute?" I sat down next to Sheila on the bench in the backyard.

"Yeah, always," Sheila said. "What's up?"

"You haven't noticed anything... weird with Edmund lately? His always at work, and never home. I've never seen him spent some time with Sebastian, barley even speaking to him..."

Sheila looked at me worried. "Yeah, I have noticed that. Actually, I feel kind of bad for Sebastian. I know both you and Edmund are working a lot, but especially Edmund... it feels like he's avoiding this family..."

"Are you telling me I'm working too much too?" I asked and I could feel my heart sink in my chest.

"No... Yeah... It feels like he's too much alone. He's just a kid and he needs his parents, you know?"

I nodded. "I haven't even thought of that. Especially you should know how it is." I smiled sadly at Sheila.

"But about Edmund... I'm really getting tired at him." I continued.

"I mean, have you heard our fights? Or it's just me shouting at him, he doesn't listen."

"I don't know what I shall do, Sheila. I feel invisible."

"Maybe... maybe you should leave him..." Sheila said slowely.

"Are... are you serious? That can't help Sebastian any way, can it?"

"It can help you. But I think you should talk to Sebastian at first, tell him how it is, and ask him where he wants to stay. I mean, I can't throw Edmund out of this house, and Sebastian have been living here his whole life, he's more than ever welcome to stay and live here and at yours each week in that case."

Sheila just talked. But I understood what she meant, and I actually thought it was a pretty good idea.

"I shall talk to Sebastian immediately!" I said. "Thank you Sheila."

We rose from the bench and hugged.

"Sebastian, sweetie.. I need to talk to you." I said. Everyone else had went to bed, except Edmund who wasn't home from work.

"What's now, mom?" Sebastian said. He looked so calm. As he always looked. No worries.

This was more heartbreaking than I thought it should be.

"I was thinking about... Moving out.." I said. Nice and shortly.

Sebastian didn't thought so. "Wh.. what?!" he said as his eyes wided. "You can't move, mom! I.. I don't.."

"Sebastian, listen!" I said before he could said anything else. "Therefore, I was wondering if you would like to stay here or move with me. Or you can live one week with me and one week here."

"I don't want to live here without you!" he shouted. "And I don't want to move!"

"I can't stay." I said, felt tears filling my eyes. I totally regret I had said anything. "You'll have to choose..."

"I'll stay mom." he said, his voice was weak. Unstable, like it was about to break any second.

"Oh dear.." I said and wrapped my arms around that little child. "I'm so, so sorry."

He didn't answer me, but he atleast hugged me back. Tight.

I felt relieved. I loved my mom, and I wanted her here in this house, but I was happy she and dad would separate. I had heard their fights. Both me and Bryan had.

Mom had went to bed, and shortly afterwards dad got home. Now he had supper.

I sat down, with my sandwiches, on the other side of the table.

No one said a word.

When dad was done, he just rose...

 And walked away.

"What have you done to mom?" I said, loud enough for him to hear me.

"Wha.." he turned around, looked at me a couple of seconds. But he didn't say anything. Then he just continued upstairs, as I had never said anything.

If I said I slept good that night, it was a lie.
