FEGG - G11 - Janelle - Chapter 2

Two weeks after prom, we graduated.

And I took Frankie and Terri with me, and we moved to Lunar Lakes.

This is where my new life begins. I could feel it.

And I had my beautiful best friend and boyfriend with me. That was the best part.

The first thing we did when we arrived to Lunar Lakes, was to drive to the nicest resturant and get some lunch.

It was a beautiful place. I'd never been much for sand and deserts, but this town was amazing.

And we also had a great TV! It wasn't that big, but we had all channels and HD.

And Terri were out flirting with guys at the gym.

Later the same day, I decided to make supper. To inaugurate the fridge and our oven, I made waffles.

The waffles should be in the oven for a long time.

So meanwhile, I watched some TV.

Suddenly I could smell smoke. Something was wrong. Then I remembered, the waffles!

I ran to the oven, and saw bright, orange flames eating the metal, and it slowly spread to the kitchen counter.

I screamed.

Our butler, Natali, came running with a fire-extinguisher.

"What did you do?" she shouted at me.

"I... I just cooked... I made waffles!" I said, halfway to tears.

While Natali put out the fire, I ran to Terri, who had passed out on the floor. If it was anything she was afraid of, it was fire.

"Terri!" I exclaimed and woke her up.

She broke into tears.

"Oh, Terri.. I'm so sorry." I said, comforting her with a long hug.

"Is it gone?"

"Natali is working on it, we've called the fire fighters." I said. "It won't hurt us. I trust Natali."

She nodded slowly as she sobbed.

And just as I said, the fire never hurt us. Natali took care of the whole thing, and I felt so grateful.

But instead of waffles that night, we ate sandwiches and cereal.

"It's good anyway." Terri said with an uncertain smile.

"I wish I could cook.." I said with a smile. "My grandpa was a chef. But dad never liked him. Actually, he never told me that much about him. Just that he cooked a lot."

"Not everyone can be great at cooking." Terri said. "But you at least tried."

"Even though I almost burnt down our new house.."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I didn't cook again after that night. Natali took care of that.

I must say, I was very, very grateful for that. She was an amazing butler, even though we just had known her for about a month now.

Terri had a boyfriend now too. His name was Ezekiel, but we just called him Ez. It was easier to pronounce.

He had been raised here in Lunar Lakes and knew every single spot.

 And I had my Frankie.

He proposed to me. One night. Right next the the spot I almost burnt down for a month ago.

Of course I said yes, and I could never be happier.
