FEGG - G9 - Edmund - Chapter 7

"You know what.." Lukas said to me one day, sitting in the couch watching TV.

"No? What now?" I looked at Lukas.

We were the only one at home. The girls were out shopping and Estella was at the library.

"I'm going to propose to your sister." he said.

"You are?" my lips broke into a big smile. "When?"

He shook his head. "I don't know. I wanted to check with you if it was okay I take your sister. Since you don't have a father who can give me your blessing..."

"So you came to me?" I laughed. "Of course you have my blessing, Luke!"

Lukas smiled big at me. "Thank you."

"But when are you going to?"

"I don't know..." Lukas frowned. "I was thinking about taking her out on a picnic or something..."

I grinned. "That sound's like a great idea, as long as you're not thinking about fishing. She hates to fish."

"Exactly what I planned." Lukas grinned back at me.

Lukas

It had been a week since I told Edmund about my plans. Today's the day.

"Sheila, you aren't doing anything special today, are you?" I asked at the dining table.

I saw Edmund glance at me.

"No, I don't think so," Sheila said. "Why?"

"Can you please get dressed and we'll go for a ride around the city." I said.

I felt her gaze in my neck but I heard her rose up and walking upstairs.

Sheila

I had no idea what Lukas planned. We usually didn't drive around the city. There wasn't much to do.

But now he took me right by the waterfalls. To a little park.

"I planned that we could eat some lunch here." Lukas said as we walked over to the tables.

We sat down and ate hot dog in silence. I wore one of my favourite dresses, and Lukas wore a shirt with a tie.

"What are we really doing here?" I asked. "And why are we dressed like this? Is this going to be an early surprise birthday party or something?"

"Can't I just take my wonderful girl to a beautiful place without getting any suspicious questions?" Lukas complained with a smile on his lips.

I smiled back, but I wanted answers.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was so boring. So, so, so boring. After lunch, Lukas picked up some fishing rods from the car.

I hated fishing. And I thought I had told Lukas that. I didn't even know he liked to fish.

"This sure is really fun!" Lukas said with a big smile.

Nothing had happened and God knows how long we'd been fishing.

I felt disappointed. I had actually been hoping for a surprise party. But now...

I didn't know anymore. This was so boring, and I just couldn't wait to get home again.

We didn't even get any fish!

But we sure had a beautiful view.

You could see the whole city from here!

Not that we were much higher than the city, there just weren't any trees or forests. The landscape was flat.

We could even see our little purple house! Behind the white big house with green roof.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then finally, Lukas put away his fishing rod. He came up to me.

"Did you have a great time fishing?" I asked.

"Honestly?" I said. "I hated it. Please never take me fishing again. Even though the view is beautiful."

He laughed. "I knew you hated fishing."

"Then why did you take me here?" I frowned. I felt confused.

"I love you Sheila." Lukas said.

"Yeah, I love you too, but that's no reason taking me out fishing!" I complained.

 "I think that's a really good reason."

Suddenly he went down on his knees.

"I love you Sheila.." he said again.

"And I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you be my wife?"

I stared at the shining little ring inside that dark blue silk box.

"Oh my.. YES!"

"YES YES YES YES YES!" I jumped up and down, I was so excited!

I picked up the ring and put it on my finger.

It was so beautiful! I had never seen a more beautiful ring in my whole, whole life!

"YES Lukas! I love you and I'll be your wife and you'll never get rid off me after this moment!" I screamed as I jumped into his arms, literally.

"I'm glad to hear that, that ring was expensive!" Lukas gasped as he received me.
