FEGG - G5 - Cece - Chapter 5

We couldn't kick out a pregnant woman.
Shyla stayed with us, but she slept on the couch. Both I and Jeff loved her more and more. She was like a mom for us. But I still had a big emptiness in my heart where my biological mom should have been...

But she was still really mad at dad. I could hear her scream at him for just leaving the dishes or something. It was Shyla who took care of the housecleaning.

One day when I came home from school, Shyla sat in the couch watching TV. My dad was at work.

"Hi Shyla.." I said and sat down next to her.

"Hi there, sweetie."

"I've been thinking," I began. "You can't sleep on this couch forever. Especially now when you're pregnant. So I was thinking about, if we could switch so I'm sleeping on the couch and you in my bed until the baby is born."

Shyla stared at me. "I can't do that! I also live here, that's already to much! I'm even wasting your air in this house."

"But you're also cleaning. And cooking, when dad doesn't. That's enough, and even if you don't really belong here, neither you or the child should have a horrible 'bed' to sleep in!"

"Sweetie, I really appreciate it, but I can't!"

A few hours later

"I've talked to dad. He says it's the least we could do."

"You mean the bed?"

"Yes."

"No, you don't get it!" Shyla said. "I can't take your bed, you need sleep too! And the baby are making perfectly fine in my belly."

"Well, I also asked that if we could put in another bed and a crib for the baby. In my and Jeff's room. It's just our foldable guest bed, and an old crib, but that's better than a coach, right?"

"Really?" Shyla's eyes glistened by happy tears. "I still think that's too much, but if you already have fixed that, I'm so grateful. You're doing to much for me already, but thank you so much!"

"Nah, it's nothing..." I smiled and gave her a hug.

Everything was just getting better and better after that. Shyla helped me with my homework, and we went to the movies and shopping and stuff.

And Shyla and my dad finally stopped fighting over everything. They could talk with eachother in a normal voice now.

Then after a few months, a little Leah was born. My half sister.
